Talk about tired!
We just finished 2 straight weekends of weddings and I'm BUSHED!! Its a good tired thought since we worked with 3 really great couple.
1-Juan and Andrea contacted me a few days before their big day when their original videographer had canceled. Luckily I was available and I filmed their beautiful ceremony in their backyard in Abingdon. I love the small intimate wedding such as theirs. It was wonderful
2-The next weekend we were off to Carrie Kentucky for the wedding of John and Meghan. They were referred to me by Stan Crabtree Photography out of Wise, VA. Stan is incredible and fun to work with Check out our site for a link to Stan's. Another wonderful couple to work with and I had so much fun with them
3 Last weekend we were in Dublin VA for the wedding of Holly and Drew. Holly was the MOH at a wedding I filmed a few years ago so it was great to see her again We filmed her wedding using our new "Storyteller' style and I cant wait to finish it as it will be completely different as anything we have done before.
We have a break until the first week of July (unless we get any last minute booking, which we always love getting) So I will be doing lots of editing and trying to update the website on the purchase of some new equipment that we will be using...oh just wait !! I will update the blog tomorrow on that!!

What's in store for 2009??
Its hard to believe 2009 is now upon us! With a new year comes new ideas and new ways to do things. My mind is always going a thousand miles an hour coming up with things I can do to make our wedding films better and to make them stand out. So I thought I would update the blog to let you know what I have in store.
As I said in an earlier post on this blog, all my prices will stay the same in 2009 as they were in 2008. I hope this will help relieve and future clients of stress caused by something else raising prices.
Number one. I am getting ready to purchase a THIRD identical camcorder to my arsenal of equipment. This cam enables us to show MORE angles of your ceremony and make it look even more like a Hollywood production. This third cam will be added to our Platinum and Gold packages AT NO EXTRA COST!
Number two. I have been experimenting using different audio recorders and Ive found the equipment that will give your wedding film crisp and clear sound and I have been receiving training on Adobe Soundbooth which is an audio editing software program which will enhance the sound even more. Again this is done at NO EXTRA COST TO YOU!!
Number three. I have been truly blessed to have working with a national award winning cinematographer who has showed me a completely different way of producing my work. It is hard to describe but lets say it is more of a story telling than anything else. I have never seen so much true emotion as I have in this style of filming and I am VERY excited to try this style out. If you read this and want more info, please call me and I will fill you in on the details. It would take me forever to explain it here. For 2009 I will be offering this style priced as my Platinum and Gold prices. Again, please call me for details.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I hope my company can be of service to you on your most special day!
Again, thanks and God Bless!!

No price increase for 2009 weddings !!!
Lets face it, the economy is in bad shape. Every time we turn around somebody somewhere is raising their prices, whether it be at the gas pump or grocery store and it hurts us all.
This time last year, I was predicting a banner year for Blue Ridge Wedding Films in 2008 but the economy hurt us too. I had the pleasure of filming some beautiful weddings and met some awesome couples, but I had hoped to serve a lot more clients than I did.
To give my potential clients one less thing to worry about, I have decided NOT increase our package prices for 2009. All prices will stay exactly the same as they were in 2008.
I have always believed a thoughtfully produced wedding film is the best way to remember your wedding day. Hopefully this will give more couples the opportunity to use our services.

It's official: I LOVE BRIDAL SHOWS !!!
Even though I have been in business nearly five years, Yesterday was my very first bridal show. The only thing that upset me was the fact I never done one before. I stayed busy pretty much the whole day handing out information packets to between 40 and 50 Brides-to-be. which was close to half the total number of BTB's attending the show.
To me it was a rousing success. Not only did I meet dozens of potential clients I also met MANY fellow vendors that I exchanged cards with. I love doing this since this helps me by having the chance to refer other vendors to clients who are looking for other vendors.
I believe the next show will be in January and I will looking forward to it. I already have ideas to make my booth more appealing to future clients.

My love/hate relationship with Google.
It amazes me how "brand-name-recognition" has infiltrated the different aspects of our lives. Take for instance...when was the last time you "searched" for something on the internet? We never "search" anymore, we "google" for it. Google has become the "kleenex" of the new millennium.
If you want your website to show up on Google it must be "Google-friendly" and it isn't always easy. For the longest time, our website www.blueridgeweddingfilms.com showed up high in the rankings if you did a generic search for videographers in this area. All of a sudden within the last couple weeks, our website just disappeared from Google. You would have to go many pages deep to find it listed. Im still trying to get it higher now.
I want to thank my friend and fellow videographer Jerome Cloninger with JC/DV Productions with the help he has given me on my problem. Jerome's work is amazing so check him out at www.jcdv.com.
What I have done is to take the cities that I have filmed weddings in before and create a page specifying that city so Google will show blueridgeweddingfilms.com when potential clients google for a videographer near them.
So far I have made pages for the following cities: Abingdon,VA, Bristol, VA, Blacksburg, VA, Boone, NC, Bristol, TN, Johnson City, TN, Kingsport, TN, Marion, VA, The New River Valley, Roanoke, VA, Southwest, Virginia, Tri Cities Tennessee, Wytheville, VA, Grundy, VA, Wise, VA, Norton, VA Richlands, VA Bluefield, VA Tazewell, VA, Elizabethton, TN, Asheville, NC and Tennessee and Virginia as well.
It is an ongoing process but hopefully soon blueridgeweddingfilms.com will show up on Google better then before.
